Perineurial and vascular calcification in a patient with chronic renal failure.

چکیده
Sir, The term calciphylaxis, coined by Seyle in 1962 (1), traditionally describes an uncommon entity that usually presents with cutaneous necrosis due to small vessel calcification. As the original concept regarding risk factors for the disease has changed considerably in the past few years, we have recently suggested the term ‘cutaneous vascular calcification’ for this pathology, based on the study of associated diseases and clinicopathological features of 17 patients with calcification within the walls of cutaneous vessels (2). To date, however, calcium deposits in the perineurium have never been described in the setting of cutaneous vascular calcification. We report here the finding of cutaneous vascular and perineurial calcification in skin samples from a diabetic patient with chronic renal failure who developed extremely painful erythematous and violaceous lesions in the abdomen, thighs and foot.

Left atrial, pulmonary vein and dural calcification in a patient with arrhythmia and chronic renal failure.
Left atrial and dural calcification in chronic renal failure is very rare. Massive atrial calcification can lead to arrhythmia and diagnosis of this condition is important to take prophylactic measures in dialysis patients. Noninvasive diagnosis of left atrial calcification is also important as it can complicate valvular surgery. We report on a patient with chronic renal failure presenting with...
متن کاملEtiology of Chronic Renal Failure in Children and Lnfants
Chronic renal failure is an uncommon disease in children with some difference in the etiology in different countries. In this study on 180 children (From 1987 to 1997 in Shiraz) with age range of 3 months to 15 years (mean 8.6±4.2 years). The male to female ratio was 1. 57: 1. The etiology of chronic renal failure in decreasing order of frequency were: reflux nephropathy (25 % ) , glbmerular di...
متن کاملMetastatic pulmonary calcification in a patient with chronic renal failure.
Metastatic pulmonary calcification characterized by diffuse calcium deposition in the lungs is known to occur in patients with chronic renal failure. We present a case of a 47-year-old man with chronic renal failure presented with dyspnea, high-resolution computed tomography of the chest revealed multiple, centrilobular, calcified nodules and patchy areas of ground-glass opacity throughout both...
متن کاملSagliker Syndrome in a Patient with Secondary Hyperparathyroidism and Chronic Renal Insufficiency: A Case Report
Sagliker syndrome is a rare form of renal osteodystrophy resulted from untreated secondary hyperparathyroidism. It is described by severe skeletal deformities, high level of PTH in patients with chronic renal failure, and deformed face. This paper reports a 44-year-old male patient with the mentioned characteristics. In addition to the unique clinical features, high levels of ALP and PTH hormon...
متن کاملTumour Calcification and Calciphylaxis in End-Stage Renal Disease
Although soft tissue and vascular calcifications are common in CKD and progress as an independent risk factor of all-cause mortality, tumour calcification and calciphylaxis are uncommon in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Here, we discuss a rare case of a patient with tumour calcification complicated with calciphylaxis developed septic shock from infection. Our patient is a 57-year...
